Intercooler removal

Hello,

I'm planning on dropping the intercooler today, without having the drain the antifreeze and remove the radiator/fan assembly. Basically, dropping the I/C straight down. Just looking for some tips, maybe :). The instructions are from another poster, over on saabc*****l, lol: http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showpost...amp;postcount=4

It's relatively easy but you'll need to unbolt the a/c condensor from the intercooler and move it aside/forward. You don't need to disconnect any lines - only the two 10mm mounting bolts.

Put the car up on ramps and you'll see two mounting bracket attached to the subframe. Each bracket is held on by two 13mm nuts. The base of the radiator and intercooler sit in the rubber grommets. Remove the nuts, remove the brackets, rest the radiator on the subframe, and drop the intercooler straight down out of the car.

Supplies needed:
10mm wrench or socket
13mm wrench or socket
7mm nut drive for clamp removal or screwdriver
<30min. time[/b]
He says to unbolt the A/C condenser from the intercooler (2 10mm bolts)--but I'm not sure what this is? On the right side of the I/C, looking from front to back, I see a grey column, and this is attached via 4 10mm bolts (is this the A/C condenser?). Can see a stack of three equal rectangles--(from back to front) the radiator, the intercooler, and then the skinniest of them all, a black rectangle--would this be the A/C condenser?

Having some trouble removing the inlet and outlet hoses of the I/C--quite a bit of rust on the clamps, as well as on the 4 13mm bolts for the radiator/ I/C brackets (thought at first they were 14mm ). Thanks!

Yes.

And yes, it's quite possible to drop the intercooler out without removing either the coolant radiator or the A/C condensor. However I would recommend removing the bumper- it gives you much better access and only takes 5 minutes or so to do.

When I did mine (to install an Abbott uprated IC) I also dropped the oil and PS coolers out of the way.
